🙋 Is EIN Free? Why is There a Charge?

Yes, EIN (Employer Identification Number) is issued for free by the IRS, but please note:
⚠️ Non-US residents or those whose main business location is not in the US cannot apply for EIN online through the IRS official website (IRS EIN Assistant). This creates some challenges. The form contains about 18 sections with 35 main fields, and the IRS requires each to be filled out correctly according to the situation. Otherwise, it may be rejected or delayed. The IRS is very strict about formats, and even a simple spelling mistake or blank field can cause rejection. A single mistake could delay your application for weeks.
✅ We do not charge government fees or pretend to be an official agency. Our services include:
📝 Accurately filling out the SS-4 form and preparing documents (to avoid rejections due to formatting or information errors).
📠 Submitting to the IRS (without you worrying about the complex process).
📬 Guiding you to receive the IRS confirmation letter CP-575 (if you didn’t receive it, we provide guidance to help you take necessary remedial actions).
📮 Most service providers don’t tell you about the importance of the IRS communication address and Responsible Party (we make sure to inform and advise you).
📧 Email support and Q&A (we respond to your queries via email or ticket).

💡 Important Notice: Address and Responsible Party in EIN Application

🛑 According to the IRS official guide "Understanding Your EIN" (IRS Publication 1635)

🏠 The address provided in the EIN application (Mailing Address) will be used as the official communication address. IRS will send all important documents (including the confirmation letter CP-575 and tax notices) to this address. (Many service providers don’t clearly mention this; it’s a common misunderstanding, but it is crucial for your long-term compliance.)

👤 The Responsible Party must be the actual controller (individual) behind the company, not an agent, company name, or fictitious identity. Many service providers may default to using their own information for the Responsible Party, which is a violation. If the IRS finds this out, they may revoke the EIN or cause future tax issues. Even if you don’t have an SSN or ITIN, you can legally apply for an EIN, but the process is more complex, and we will assist you through the entire process.

1. What is EIN? Why do I need to apply for it?
EIN (Employer Identification Number) is a business tax number issued by the IRS (Internal Revenue Service), similar to a company’s "ID number". Whether or not you employ anyone, if you want to register a business in the US, open a bank account, apply for a payment processor like Stripe or PayPal, file taxes, etc., you will generally need an EIN.
2. Can Non-US Residents Apply for EIN?
Yes. Non-US residents can apply for an EIN without an SSN (Social Security Number) or ITIN (Individual Taxpayer Identification Number), but they cannot apply online through the IRS official website. They can only submit the SS-4 form via fax or mail.
3. Do you charge government fees or service fees?
The EIN itself is issued for free by the IRS. We only charge a one-time service fee for helping you accurately fill out the SS-4 form, submit materials, provide consultation, and other professional services. We do not charge government fees or pretend to be an official agency.
4. Can I apply for EIN myself for free?
Yes, but the SS-4 form has about 18 main sections, and the IRS requires each field to be filled out correctly. Otherwise, it may be rejected or delayed. The IRS is very strict about formatting, and even a small error can cause the application to be returned. One mistake could make you wait for weeks unnecessarily.
5. Do you offer refunds?
No refunds for undelivered or delayed mail due to address issues or IRS processing times, but we will gladly provide guidance and help you take necessary remedial actions. If the failure is caused by our mistake, we will re-submit or offer a refund.
